Terms and Conditions

Preambel

The NeuroIS Retreat 2024 will take place in physical face-to-face in Vienna, Austria, from June 9 to June 11. In case of significant international travel restrictions, the conference will take place in an online format.

General Terms

The following terms and conditions set out the legal rules applicable to the NeuroIS Retreat 2024 (June 9 to June 11) and membership for the NeuroIS Society. Participants/registrants shall be bound by these terms and conditions upon registering for the conference and/or NeuroIS Society and are advised to read and understand these terms carefully before registering. The organizer will not accept any conditions contradictory to or deviant from these general terms and conditions.

Organizer

Responsible for the organization of the conference and the processing of NeuroIS membership registration is the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, Austria.

Severability Clause

If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid, the invalidity of that provision will not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of these Terms and Conditions, which shall remain in full force and effect.

 

Terms and Conditions (NeuroIS Retreat 2024)

Registration

Registration to the conference must be done through the online registration system. Participants will receive an automatic confirmation of the registration details. If you do not obtain a message, please send an e-mail to info@NeuroIS.org to make sure that the organizer has received your booking. Registration will only be effective on receipt of the registration fee or after authorization of credit card payment. Please notify any corrections to your registration immediately.

Fees and Payment Conditions

Depending on the mode of the conference, the following fees are effective:

Regular: Physical face-to-face: € 640, Online: € 290, NeuroIS Society Membership: € 100.
Student: Physical face-to-face: € 440, Online: € 190, NeuroIS Society Membership: € 25.

Note that an official confirmation of the student status must be uploaded during the registration process.

The registration fee for the main conference (physical face-to-face) includes the conference dinner on June 9, the coffee breaks and lunch on June 10 and June 11, social event with dinner on June 10, and electronic access to the Springer proceedings for at least the corresponding author of an accepted paper. In case of an online conference, it includes participation via an online platform and access to the Springer proceedings for at least the corresponding author for an accepted paper.

In case that a pre-event will be organized (June 9): Pre-event participants must be members of the NeuroIS Society. Participation is free for NeuroIS Society members. Refreshments and coffee will be provided. The maximum number of pre-event participants is 20.

Please use credit card online payment when registering for the retreat. All payments are made in Euro.

Cancellation

Request for refund must be in writing via e-mail to info@NeuroIS.org, and is subject to the following schedule: received by April 5, 2024, full refund less € 50 administrative fee; cancellations received later will not be accepted, the registrant will be liable for the full conference registration fee. Substitutions are permitted.

Participants who do not cancel will still be responsible for the full registration fee. All cancellations and changes must be submitted in written form – with indication of full name, invoice number and bank details for reimbursement – to info@NeuroIS.org.

The organizer reserves the right to modify the content of the program, the speakers, and the times of presentations. If the number of participants is insufficient (at least 20 participants), the organizer reserves the right to cancel the conference and all related products and/or services without any liability on his part. In the case of a cancellation by the organizer participants will be reimbursed the registration fee actually paid.

Liability

The organizer does not accept liability for the up-to-dateness, correctness and completeness in respect to retreat documentation and content. The organizer will not assume any responsibility whatsoever for any damage or injury to persons or property during the entire event (June 9 to June 11, 2024). Payments will be refunded if the conference will be canceled by the organizer. In that case, the organizer will have no further liability to the client. Registrations remain valid if the conference have to be postponed due to reasons which are not in the sphere of action of the organizer.

Photographs etc.

The organizer may, free of charge and without the further consent of the participants, use and release video, pictures, and shots taken of the participants and the participants’ electronic content (such as posters, excerpts of presentations, or lectures) during the retreat for reports of the conference (e.g., on www.NeuroIS.org or in the NeuroIS Society Magazine) and announcement of events in future.

Disputes

All agreements between the organizer and the participant and all disputes which may arise between the organizer and the participants shall be exclusively subject to Austrian law. Court of jurisdiction shall be Linz in Austria, if not otherwise required by the Austrian Consumer Protection Act.

Terms and Conditions (NeuroIS Society membership)

NeuroIS Society

The NeuroIS Society is the premier academic organization for scientists and professionals working at the nexus of Information Systems (IS) and neuroscience research and development. The NeuroIS Society is a non-profit organization and was founded in Vienna (Austria) in 2018 (ZVR-Zahl 1361230816, Public Register of Associations, Austria). The group of founding members consists of top researchers from various scientific disciplines, including IS and computer science, neuroscience and brain research, and psychology. The purpose of the society is to support basic and applied research and systems development in the field of NeuroIS.

Membership types

The registration fee for regular members of the NeuroIS Society is 100,-- Euro. The student registration fee for the NeuroIS Society is 25,-- Euro. An official confirmation of the student status must be uploaded during the registration process. Institutional membership of the NeuroIS Society is available for a registration fee of 500,-- Euro. This fee covers the NeuroIS Society registration fees of up to 10 individual members of the institution in the corresponding calendar year. Institutional members that are covered by this membership type have to be announced by a contact person of the institution subsequent to the payment of the registration fee (please send an e-mail to info@NeuroIS.org with a list of individuals, including their name and e-mail address, and student enrollment if applicable).

Registration and membership validity

Registration for the NeuroIS Society must be done through the online registration system. Registrants will receive an automatic confirmation of the registration details. If you do not obtain a message, please send an e-mail to info@NeuroIS.org. Registration will only be effective on receipt of the registration fee, after authorization of credit card payment, and confirmation of membership by the NeuroIS Society board. Please notify any corrections to your registration immediately. The amount due has to be paid within 14 days upon completion of the registration. Membership will be valid through the calendar year of the registration.

Disputes

All agreements between the organizer and the registrants and all disputes which may arise between the organizer and the registrants shall be exclusively subject to Austrian law. Court of jurisdiction shall be Linz in Austria, if not otherwise required by the Austrian Consumer Protection Act.

Personal Data Processing

All personal data provided to the organizer for registration will be treated as confidential. The personal data shall be used and stored for further processing and documentation purposes (information on upcoming NeuroIS events, NeuroIS and related job offers, and participation statistics for anniversaries).

The information will not be used or re-used for an unlawful purpose.

Personal data shall be delivered to assigned service providers, as deemed necessary for the successful performance of the conference.

The organizer will only disclose necessary information to third parties if that is necessary for the fulfillment of the purpose(s) identified in these terms and conditions.

The personal data can be also used by third parties for the exclusive purpose of sending special offers, online surveys and other promotional activities by e-mail or post.

This consent can be revoked at any time via the third party. In this case, NeuroIS Retreat transfers the obligation to erase personal data to every third party.

The personal data will be erased as soon as the purpose is fulfilled, but no later than two months after the conference.
